This encompassed trying to remove his tracking device and a call for a supporters' gathering that could enable a possible escape.

Court Filing Details Escape Concerns

In a paperwork permitting the detention, the magistrate said information from the unit overseeing his home detention suggested the former leader's plan to remove the surveillance device to ensure success in his flight.

This, it said, would be made easier by the confusion caused by the protest called by his child.

His child, Flávio Bolsonaro, who works as a legislator, called for a gathering of his followers near Bolsonaro's home to take place on the weekend.

His son wrote on social media on last Friday: Do you plan to struggle for your homeland, or watch it all from your mobile device there on your couch? I call on you to battle with us."

He said the gathering would be so followers could "pray for his well-being and for the return of democracy in our country."

Foreign Shelter Risks

The judicial paperwork highlights that the United States embassy in the national capital, Brasilia, is positioned around approximately 13 kilometers from the former president's residence.
