Mario's Galactic Adventure Teaser Is Here, Introducing Fresh Faces Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Actors
Nintendo alongside Illumination released the first full-length trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie this Wednesday. It was showcased in a dedicated Nintendo presentation that centered on the upcoming animated film.
The sequel to the 2023 hit film The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this fresh entry will transport Mario to the outer limits of the universe. There, he will encounter a new princess and a powerful new opponent in Bowser Jr., the son of the King of the Koopas.
An Interstellar Journey Drawing from Beloved Titles
Much like the Wii console classics that provide its foundation, Mario will depart from the cozy environment of the Mushroom Kingdom to travel across the galaxy. Throughout his extensive trek, he will reunite with some recognizable characters, for instance the Luma, a fan favorite from the original cinematic release.
Yet it looks like Mario and his brother Luigi will confront a new threat in the form of Bowser's angry little boy, who seemingly commands metallic abilities. Interestingly, the trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not exclusively centered on visuals from the Galaxy games; it also features references to additional popular titles like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
All-Star Vocal Ensemble Reprise Roles and Welcome Newcomers
The feature will welcome back of the primary vocal talent, including Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
Fresh faces in the lineup for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will bring to life Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to play Bowser Jr. This was confirmed by Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri.
A Big Year for Mario
The upcoming Mario film is planned to debut around the time of the four-decade milestone of the first Super Mario Bros. title. Apart from the cinematic release, 2026 looks set to be a important time for Mario and his allies.
Nintendo confirmed a set of three fresh titles already confirmed for the upcoming year, such as Mario Tennis Fever, a release on Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a fresh Yoshi side-scroller titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Premiere Date Announced
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is scheduled to hit theaters on April 3, 2026.
