NFL Recap: Denver Narrowly Beat Hapless Jets in Low-Scoring Battle
In a low-scoring contest this weekend, the Broncos clinched a 13-11 victory over the struggling New York Jets. Quarterback Bo Nix threw an early scoring strike and kicker Wil Lutz provided the game-winning decisive three-pointer to seal the hard-fought win.
Defensive Performance Wins Contest
Even with registering nine sacks against Jets QB Justin Fields, the Broncos were behind 11-10 following giving up a two-point play in the third quarter. Remarkably, the Jets could only produce just 82 offensive yards throughout the entire game.
The Denver quarterback, who went 19 of 30 attempts for 174 yards, engineered a critical 12-play, 65-yard drive that culminated in Lutz's short kick with approximately five minutes remaining.
Record Difficulties for Jets Attack
Despite their horrendous offensive display, the Jets maintained the ball with a chance to drive for a possible winning score. But Fields was tackled on fourth down from the Denver 44 when coach Aaron Glenn chose to attempt the conversion instead of calling on specialist Nick Folk for a long field-goal attempt.
Fields had difficulties all game, completing just 9 of 17 passes for 45 yards. The Jets finished with minus-10 passing yards, the lowest in any game since 1998.
"The aerial attack was non-existent," the coach stated after the game.
